This is long overdue, but on Katy’s birthday I surprised her with a trip up to Canada. We stayed at an awesome B&B on the Sunshine Coast, right on the water on the Sechelt Inlet.

In short, it was amazing.

Ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale

To get to Sechelt you take BC Ferries over from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. It’s a beautiful 40 minute ride with great views of the coastal mountains just north of Vancouver as well as Gambier and Bowen Island.

The hotel was fantastic, with delicious multi-course breakfasts:

Saturday was about relaxing, getting massages (never had one before… it was pretty great), and exploring Sechelt for lunch and dinner.

Sunday we sea kayaked on the inlet, which was pretty great save for the way back, when we got stuck in some choppy waters heading home.

It seems like every time that Katy and I leave town, we’re out in the mountains, camping, hiking, or doing something that would require adventures and necessitate a shower when we get home. It was good to get away, relax, not have an agenda, and be able to sleep in until late on a comfortable bed.
